French Chocolate Cake


Hey, it's Lexa. So, here is a French Chocolate Cake. It's a rich, chocolatey cake that's really good. Here is the recipe:


Ingredients:


  • 2 tsps. vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter 
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 10 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 5 eggs, yolk and whites separated
Directions:
  1. Preheat Oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit 
  2. Generously butter a 9 inch cake pan, then sprinkle with a little sugar and tap out excess
  3. mix butter, chocolate, and sugar in a saucepan
  4. Stir and cook over low heat until butter and chocolate have melted, and sugar has dissolved. 
  5. Remove from heat, and then stir in vanilla
  6. Beat egg yolks into mixture
  7. stir in flour
  8. In a a bowl, beat egg whites until frothy
  9. then add salt and stir faster until peaks form
  10. sprinkle 3 tbsp. of sugar and beat until the whites are stiff and glossy
  11. beat 1/3 of the whites mixture into chocolate, then fold in remaining remaining whites
  12. pour mixture into tin, and bake for 35-45 minutes until well risen
  13. allow to col completely, then remove from pan. Well cooled, sprinkle with powdered sugar
